NorthWest
Territories
Paradoxically, the Northwest Territories have some of Canada's most famous expeditionary rock-routes, but none of these areas are easily reached from the main population centre, Yellowknife. The Cirque of the Unclimbables and the Vampires, as well as lesser known rock routes in the Tombstone Range have granite walls up to 100m in height, and offer some of the most aesthetic alpine rock climbing on the planet. Access to the Cirque is by air from Watson Lake, (off of the Alaska Highway) to Britnell Lake, and from there a long day's hike to Fairy Meadow. Access to the Vampires can also be made from Britnell Lake.
